The heart is key to preserving life, hence the importance of cardiology and cardioprotective, both artificial and natural, which I address here. This text is not an attempt to summarize all the heart diseases, but a commented list of natural cardiologists. Because the category of "heart-healthy" herbs (without being bothered by the herbalists to say exactly) was there, and will be in the foreseeable future.
The three basic effects of cardioprotective
TCM and herbalists usually treat only civilization diseases of the heart . Just because cardiosurgery generally does not. However, the reverse sentence does not apply: it is not written anywhere that the physician must not understand phytotherapy. Herbs are very effective in preventing a major heart problem - atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries and resulting ischemic diseases . Medicinal plants can also affect heart rate, contractility, tension and volley. Each doctor knows digitalis and cardiac glycosides that have the character of Paracelsus drugs (ie sola dosis facit venenum ). Not everyone knows that effective glycosides also exist in ginseng and other adaptogens that protect cardiomyocytes and other organs cells from dying. The three basic effects of cardioprotective are:
- effect against ischemic heart disease
- change of cardiac muscle contractility
- protective effect on cardiomyocytes
Cardioprotective herbs are not specific
While cardiologists specialize very closely at heart, cardioprotective herbs work widely. These herbs usually contain a variety of active substances that do not restrict the heart but also affect blood vessels, vascular lining and other organs. It is also common that the herb benefits the heart with more than one mechanism. The word "cardioprotective" therefore does not relate to anything specific. However, as it is traditional and still used, it is necessary to devote this unclear category of herbs.
Herbs and natural remedies for heart cells
The most common heart disease is ischemic disease caused by atherosclerosis.
Natural cardioprotective agents have a special status of herbs against ischemic disease . In particular, vasorelaxant, anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory effects are used. Because of the ischemic heart disease I have a separate article here (for the completeness of the cardioprotective list), only a list of effective herbs: achyrant , cejba , garlic and genus Allium in general , eugenia uniflora and the genus Eugenia in general , Euryale ferox , chestnut chestnut , gentian , cannabis , dill , coriander , kretévie varuna , lotus flower, marigold pomegranate , white mulberry , Roth 's bloom, brilliant sight , puffy lobster , lily rump , tamala cinnamon ,
As I wrote above, the category of cardioprotective is unclear, but it has a lot of representatives. Therefore, do not take the title of this paragraph too seriously - there are some herbs with some other mechanism of action (such as anti-inflammatory drugs such as diarrhea or mild diuretics such as parsley) only when they are "good for heart". (That's the ethnobotany ...) They are:
- pimpernel
- Hawthorn Hawthorn and Crataegus Generally ( Wang2013ecu )
- birch
- hop
- nettle
- and other species of the Valerian genus
- lavender medical and perhaps other species of the Lavandula genus
- lute
- mochna
- parsley
- horsetail and genus Equisetum in general
- puerarie
- Mexican Dwarf Man ( Gene1998hia )
- the yarrow and perhaps even the fragrant
- Common Heartbird
- safflower dye ( Han2013eai )
- Crusader bird
- Tallow Elm
- St John's wort
And more. Of course, these must be attributed to cytoprotective adaptogens . The heart is mainly:
- Danske ( Sieveking2005chd ).
- Klanopraška ( Li2011sic ).
- Pink and sacred rosette , which has a positive effect on the heart in hypertensive rats ( Yang2013ers ).
- Leuzea ( Maimeskulova2000aep ).
- Japanese sediments act on calcium myocardial currents ( Tao2005smd , Tao2005esm ) and its polysaccharides (MDG-1 et al.) Protect the heart during ischemia ( Zheng2007peo , Wang2010pmi , Wang2012pma , Zhang2016cpe ). Its ethanol extract has an antithrombotic effect ( Kou2005iee ) and the glycoside ophiopogonin D protects vascular endothelium ( Qian2010oph ) and cardiac muscle ( Zhang2015oad ). Other sedative saponins improve myocardial regeneration ( Lan2013ccf ) and probably also cause atherosclerosis ( Zhang2011mdi ).
- Baikal Shishak and its flavonoids protect against heart failure ( Zhao2016ceb , Shen2014bpc ) and have a protective effect in heart stroke ( Lai2016brl , Chen2014bac ). Flavonoid vogonin from shishak protects the heart from diabetic damage ( Khan2016wad ). Bajkalin and geniposide from Jasmine gardenia were active in experimental atherosclerosis in vivo ( Liu2014oab ).
- Genus Genuine is a traditional medicine for cardiologists ( Jia2012cgm ). It is used separately ( Gai2012egr , Li2012srg , Maslov2009ica ) and in combinations such as the already mentioned flare ( Han2013eai ) and seat ( Li2011sic ). It is also traditional in the prevention of atherosclerosis ( Morisaki1995mae ) and cardiac ischemia. Ginseng research also addresses its effect on arrhythmias, heart failure ( You2005pgr ) and cardiac hypertrophy ( Jiang2007ieg , Karmazyn2011tpg , Moey2012gre , Zhang2013grp ), etc. Hazard Information aginseng interactions in cardiac patients are, according to available experimental data ( Zhu1999pig , Vaes2000iww , Lee2010ibw ), a superstition. Genetic not only does not interfere with the effectiveness of antithrombotics but has its own blood-thinning effect ( Jin2007aaa , Yu2006aaa , Yun2001ekr ). American ginseng , ginseng notoginseng , ginseng Japanese , ginseng Vietnamese and other species of the genus Panax have similar constituents and act like famous.
The diet of fatty foods is also suitable for heart protection ...
By further expanding our view of natural remedies to protect the heart, we would get to the diet. With lots of polyphenols, antioxidants , vitamins, carotenoids (lutein, lycopene, zeaxanthin, b-carotene fame), fiber and proper fats, for example omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids ( Ignarro2007npa ). I have already written a list of dietary fatty foods elsewhere.
And what does the heart protection mean?
The way TČM explains cardiac physiology is sophisticated, top of alchemy and Pliny. The heart has the status of King of the other organs in the TCM. Appears with sparkle in the eyes, controls fire and heat, controls blood circulation and is home to women- the lower soul of a human being that affects vitality. No wonder the heart of the meridian sends a lateral branch to the eye's eye until it runs from the heart to the thumb of his right hand. Through the element of fire it combines with summer so that in the winter it is necessary to eat foods that are yang - they supply the much needed heat to the small intestine whose yarky meridian is the counterpart of the other meridian of the heart. It therefore follows logically that the basis of heart protection is the regular biorhythm and the emphasis on sweet and sour foods - Chinese spicy sweet and sour soup, chicken meat in a sweet-sour sauce and so on. However, it is necessary to know warm (yang) food ingredients especially suitable in winter and cold (yin) specials suitable especially in the summer. If it is a herb mixture, in winter and summer the practitioner of the Czech Center for Cardiology will attack:
These are relatively simple but effective combinations of adaptogens. Simple and powerful is also a double combination
- root of sage reddish (7g) + root of puer gas (3g)
known under the name danshen-gegen decoction . The Chinese would be called 丹葛 葛根 湯, but the reference to this two combination is only modern - Wong2011mpd , Chiu2011ltd and others praise it to heaven. Pathology is based on the distinction between the disease and the syndrome - the overall condition of the patient. Since the heart is the king of organs, it is rarely the real cause of the disease (otherwise the consequences would be fatal). For this reason, TCM distinguishes only two diseases originating from the heart - heart palpitations (palpitations, shingles ) and heart pain ( angina pectoris , zhen shin tong ). It is logical to say that I will only mention one of the more complex cardioprotective combinations of TČM:
It is also used against atherosclerosis and ischemic disease. Another will offer you your TCM practitioner.

The most common cause of heart disease is immune problems
The purpose of this text is not to supplement the textbook of cardiology, but I only offer a not quite obvious insight that quantitatively most civilization diseases of the heart have immune reasons . The most common cause of ischemic heart disease - coronary atherosclerosis - is immune related. White blood cells (macrophages) are directly involved in the growth of atheromas in the blood vessels. (More precisely, their ability to routinely purify blood vessels is reduced.) Other heart diseases also have immune roots: Rheumatoid arthritis, as we know, the joints only lick, but the heart is gurgling. Lupus erythematosus , as we know, accelerates atherosclerosis ( Stojan2013asl ). Both of these diseases are autoimmune . Also obesity (and mainly belly fat) irritates the immune system. Obesity increases susceptibility to inflammation ( Delgado2008oas ), atherosclerosis and its above-mentioned consequences. In other words, if you want to have a healthy heart, do not go out and protect your immune system!
Coronary atherosclerosis has been progressing for a long time without any manifestation. It is very late to manifest as ischemic heart disease with angina pectoris with relatively little effort. Approximately 50% of patients experience coronary atherosclerosis in any way - their first symptom is myocardial infarction . These and other heart diseases (arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, cardiac hypertrophy due to high blood pressure , etc.) can be demonstrated by their association with metabolic syndrome, obesity and other civilization diseases.
Another type of civilization heart disease (cardiac hypertrophy, etc.) leads to hypertension . Overall, traditional means in the 21st century have again gained interest in science, and our findings on heart and vessel-active plants have grown significantly. Medicinal plants are even used acutely in the treatment of myocardial infarction and other acute ischemic conditions .

Herbs acting on the contractility of the heart muscle
Beware, there are also violent poisons! And finally, are cardiac glycosides? Once poisonous , Digitalis purpurea (cardiotonic, glycosides) ...
